Coffee and a Lanvin Muse

Lanvin RTW Fall 2011
Sitting with coffee this morning, I fell in love with Lanvin's fall ready to wear 2011 line. He takes black to a whole new level, adds structured capes, and who knew mixing knits with satin would look oh so fabulous. Strong shoulders and hip lines gives strength, but yet everything still remains delicate and flatters the body. The color palette is soft with nudes, creams, mustard yellows, and a touch of fuchsia and corals for intensity. Everything about this fall line is simply divine. Check it out if you have not yet.

The other day I whipped out my Harem Pants I bought from American Apparel for a shopping trip. May I say that they are super comfortable and extremely versatile.

White V-Neck Kinda Day

Happy Monday! This morning I woke up at 5:30 a.m., thought of my hour and a half commute to school and instantly was not in the mood at all to wear anything fancy. So, I decided to throw on a pair of dark skinnies and a simple white v-neck finished off with my Nine West sandals. This outfit is my "go to" outfit when I have nothing else to wear or when I'm just not motivated to wear anything extravagant.

Be Blessed.

Simple.

Goodbye lovely weekend, hello busy week ahead of me. This weekend was eventful. Friday night I was working all night, Saturday morning I worked again and then after I went straight to the banquet hall still dressed in my work clothes where they were having a birthday lunch for my uncle. Then I said hello to everyone who came from out of state, went back home and got dressed for a wedding reception. The photo above was my outfit for that night. I purchased this electric blue dress from Zara. I fell in love with it because it is super casual and can be worn from day to night and is also extremely comfortable. It's also A-lined from the front to back. LOVE. Added a pair of nude pumps from Nine West, structured handbag from Urban Outfitters, and my sequined elephant necklace from Forever 21 and voila.

A Culture Mainstreamed

Hand-made Hmong skirt

Angelina Jolie and her children. Vivienne (4th from left) is wearing a hand made hmong top.

I was flipping through an old *People magazine the other day and came across a picture of Angelina Jolie and her kids. What stuck out to me was what her daughter Vivienne was wearing; a traditional children's Hmong top. Me being Hmong, this made a huge impact in my life because it's going open a huge door to the Hmong people. People are always interested in what her kids are wearing so I'm sure they will be asking where Vivienne got her top and such and soon they'll find out that it is originally part of the Hmong, which will lead to further research of the Hmong people.

Just the other day I was shopping on Walnut Street in Philadelphia at the beautiful Anthropologie and was amazed by a Hmong inspired skirt and sweater. I knew that it had to deal with the Hmong because of the patterns, colors and the pleating of the skirt. I love how Hmong clothing is getting it's foot in the door in the fashion industry. The clothing is so beautiful and technical in it's design and patterns that any designer would be inspired from it.

Be blessed.

50 Cent(s)

Good Afternoon. So I came across this oh so fabulous top at a yard sale in my development for an amazing price of 50 cents. what could beat that? It's a little on the looser side, but I can definitely make it work by adding a belt and wearing it over leggings or tucking it in with my dark skinny jeans. And on an even brighter note, my hair is finally getting longer! I've missed it so much. I used to have the angled bob, and believe me, short hair was fun and easily manageable, but I do prefer my long hair. Mother says it long hair makes me look more mature, and from what I've learned in the past, moms are ALWAYS right.

This coming weekend is going to be a fun one. I have family from out of state coming so we'll be hanging out and spending quality time with each other. We plan on going out on Saturday night so I gotta whip up an outfit for that. In the meantime, have a beautiful day everyone!

Be Blessed.

Looking Forward

So school is about a month in and I have been so busy with project after project. I'm taking a total of 4 art classes; Fashion Draping, Drawing, 3-D Design, and Graphic Design. I don't know how all my professors manage to make all projects due at the same time, but I've actually been managing my time pretty well.

Also, fall is just around the corner and I got a taste of it the other day and I was so excited to break out into my new fall clothes which consisted of black leggings, oversized sweater from H&M, my poncho inspired coat from H&M and my brownish copperish booties that I am absolutely obsessed with right now. Not to mention that they are uber comfy to walk in all day. I cannot wait until the cooler days and for the inspiring colors of autumn.
